Privacy Notice
How Gazatta and the local publications in our network collect, use and protect personal information.
Last updated: 23 July 2026
1. About Gazatta and this notice
Gazatta creates and operates local websites, newsletters and related publishing services. This notice applies to the Gazatta corporate website and to local publications that identify Gazatta as their operator or link to this notice.
When this notice refers to “Gazatta”, “we”, “us” or “our”, it means Gazatta as the controller of the personal information described here. Our services may be provided under different local publication names. We may combine information collected through those publications where this is necessary to operate, understand, improve and promote the Gazatta network.
A local publication may provide extra privacy information for a particular service. That information should be read together with this notice.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us
Depending on how you interact with us, you may provide your name, email address, organisation, location, enquiry details, newsletter preferences, competition or survey responses, advertising information, payment or invoicing details, and any other information you include in a message or submission.
If you submit information about another person, you must have their permission to do so.
Information collected automatically
When you use our websites or newsletters, we may collect technical and usage information such as your IP address, browser and device type, approximate location, pages viewed, links clicked, visit times, referral source, cookie identifiers, and whether a newsletter was opened or a link was selected.
Information from other sources
We may receive information from service providers, advertising partners, social media platforms, publicly available sources, business directories and partners that help us run or measure our services. We may also create aggregated information and reasonable inferences about audience interests from how our services are used.
3. How we use personal information
We may use personal information to:
- provide websites, newsletters, competitions, events and other services you request;
- respond to enquiries, complaints, corrections and rights requests;
- manage subscriptions and send service messages;
- develop, secure, maintain and improve our publications;
- understand audiences and measure content, newsletter and advertising performance;
- sell, deliver and administer advertising, sponsorships and business partnerships;
- show or measure relevant advertising, subject to your choices and applicable consent requirements;
- send marketing about Gazatta publications or related services where permitted by law;
- prevent misuse, protect our rights and comply with legal obligations.
Our lawful bases
Under UK data protection law, we rely on one or more lawful bases. These include consent, performance of a contract or steps requested before a contract, compliance with a legal obligation, and our legitimate interests in operating, protecting, improving and responsibly promoting our publishing services. Where we rely on legitimate interests, we consider the effect on your rights and expectations.
4. Who we share information with
We may share personal information with suppliers that provide hosting, email delivery, newsletter software, analytics, payment processing, customer support, advertising technology, professional advice and other services needed to operate Gazatta. They may only use the information for agreed purposes and must protect it appropriately.
We may also share information:
- between Gazatta publications where this supports the purposes described in this notice;
- with an advertiser or partner when you knowingly respond to their promotion, enter a co-branded activity or ask us to pass on your details;
- with social media and advertising platforms where you have consented or where the law otherwise permits;
- with regulators, courts, law enforcement or other parties when required by law or necessary to protect rights, safety or security;
- in connection with a sale, transfer or reorganisation of all or part of the Gazatta business.
We may share aggregated or anonymised information that does not identify individuals.
5. International transfers and retention
Some suppliers may process information outside the United Kingdom. Where required, we use recognised safeguards for international transfers.
We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably needed for the purpose collected, including legal, accounting, security and dispute-resolution requirements. Retention periods vary by type of information. Newsletter records may be retained while you remain subscribed and for a limited period afterwards to record your preferences.
6. Cookies, analytics and advertising
Our websites may use cookies and similar technologies to operate essential features, remember choices, understand use, measure audiences and support advertising. Non-essential cookies should only be used in line with the choices offered through the relevant website’s cookie controls.
Advertising and analytics providers may use identifiers to measure campaigns or help select relevant advertising. Their own privacy notices explain how they use information. You can change available choices through the cookie settings on the publication you are visiting and through your browser or device settings.
Our websites may link to external services and social networks. Gazatta does not control how those third parties use personal information, so you should review their privacy information.
7. Marketing and newsletters
Where you subscribe, we use your details to send the newsletter or updates you requested. We may use engagement information, such as opens and clicks, to understand and improve our communications where permitted.
You can unsubscribe using the link in any marketing email. We may retain a minimal suppression record so that we can respect your choice.
8. Your data protection rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may have the right to be informed, access your information, correct inaccurate information, request deletion or restriction, receive certain information in a portable form, object to processing based on legitimate interests, and withdraw consent at any time.
You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office. We would appreciate the opportunity to address your concern first.
9. Children
Our general websites are intended for a broad local audience. We do not knowingly use children’s personal information for behavioural advertising. Where a service is specifically aimed at children or requires parental involvement, we will provide additional information and safeguards.
10. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information. No online service can guarantee absolute security, so please take care when deciding what to send through a website or email.
11. Contact us
For privacy questions or to exercise a data protection right, use our contact form and select the most relevant enquiry type, or email contact@gazatta.com.
If Gazatta publishes a postal business address, you may also write to us there and mark your correspondence “Privacy”.

We may update this notice as Gazatta’s services and suppliers develop. The latest version will always be published on this page with its revision date.
